Sep 7, 2005 - OS upgrade
This shouldn't have any user-visible changes, but I've upgraded to Debian
"Sarge" since it came out a while back. One possibly noticible change is that
the system is no longer spam filtering at the system level, but instead spam
scanning is being done on behalf of each individual user. There are probably
some new features in Mailman and Squirrelmail that showed up along with this
upgrade. I'll be upgrading all the Gallery sites at some point in the near
future, too.
Dec 9, 2004 - Spam and Virus improvements
I've installed ClamAV and upgraded to Exim 4, along with Mailman 2.1 and Spamassassin 3.01. Exim is filtering
all mail through ClamAV, as well as blocking some particularly annoying file
attachments (.scr, .pif, .com, etc.). It's going through Spamassassin as well,
though it is not using Bayesian
filtering at this time, since it seems unwise to use a system-wide bayes
database for all users.
Nov 19, 2004 - Web password change
Users can now change their password over the web by going here. You'll need to log in with your
username and your current password, and it will allow you to pick a new
password.
Oct 31, 2004 - Cliché color scheme
I think it's funny that I picked
a color scheme that has turned out to be the current overused pallette for the
web. Even the NetBSD project is in on it. Too
bad Fortinbras runs Debian, eh? Hey, at least
I'm hip.
Oct 20, 2004 - New site up and running happily
All the DNS caching issues have been resolved by now, and the new Zoiks website
is up and running. Now I need to work on migrating the few people who actively
use their old Everyone.net Zoiks accounts over here to Fortinbras, and all will
be well.
Sep 24, 2004 - Welcome
Welcome to Zoiks.net, my little pet project. There's a bunch of stuff hosted here for my friends and family, which is
primary reason for Zoiks to be here. If I know you, I'll probably host your
site too. Just ask.
Sep 21, 2004 - New site about to go live
I'm just about ready to move the old Everyone.net mail system to its new
hostname (old-webmail.zoiks.net), and
this set of pages will be up for the world to see. Joy!
