My sister is having a real hard time financially right now. She paid $300 or her $400 rent last week and tried to get an extension. They told her the first day would be a $35 late fee and then $5 a day starting on the sixth of the month. So...on the sixth, she still didn't have the $100. Being the good bro I hope I am, I say..."no problem". Gimme their number and I'll call them and I'll take care of the hundred bucks over the phone (cause I live 300 miles away). I call them and they're like "Oh, I'm sorry. We're just not in the 21st century yet. We don't have a credit card machine." WHAT??? Really??? And she said it while giggiling like it was comical that they don't have to give any options. I mean fuck it, why not? They get late fees, right? So now my sister is going to end up paying about a hundred dollars in late fees. So, to 443 LLC and their jolly band of asshats, please eat a big fat box of shit. I couldn’t agree more!! Nagios 3 isn't too bad, especially on Debian. The problem with the other "hip" new open source monitoring systems is that they're all ENTERPRIZEY and stuff. (Read as: OMG JAVA!!!!111) So long as you don't want any serious event correlation or snmp trap handling, you could make due with Nagios. :-) I asked the same question, but I always wound up at Nagios. I have a no PHP, no ENTERPRISE policy on my machines, so that kind of narrows it down.
