Everybody loves a tapeworm

I’m pretty sure I’ve read this story once before, but it was pointed out to me again by JWZ. For anyone who hasn’t already seen it, this first-hand account of living with a tapeworm is hilarious.

Tapeworms sure do sound like an effective weight management device, though… what do you think, more or less bad than anorexia?

Oh, and be sure to read some of the reader-supplied comments at the end of the above story - there is some truly cringe-worthy stuff in there. I hope none of that stuff ever happens to me. Ever. Seriously.

Borat

I would like the previous two hours of my life back. That is all.

Fun with Videoconferencing

I’ve been spending a lot of time on phone and video calls to Australia lately, for various reasons. The project I’ve been spending most of my time on lately is based there (which I’m totally hoping will score me a trip to Sydney), and I keep finding myself doing phone interviews of aussies.

Anyway, the audio wasn’t working very well this afternoon on the Sydney side of the VC meeting, and the microphones are in the ceiling (!?!) in that room, so one of my colleagues decided to get closer to them. Here he is dancing on the table so we can hear him.

German Apple Pancakes

These are freaking delicious. Even Jenny loved them when we made them, and she normally hates things with apple in them. (She insists that she really does like apples; she’s just extremely picky about things _with_ apple.) I highly recommend this recipe. We added about 1/2 cup more flour than the recpie actually calls for to get the right sort of consistency. Try it - you’ll like it. Just make sure you have a pan you can use on the stove and then put in the oven without the handle melting.

Oh, and since I have to have an opinion on everything, you should use Jonagold apples. Stay the hell away from Golden Delicious. Their name is an evil, evil lie, and when you eat them the terrorists win.

Also, this.
